Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations. We are a secular society open to men of any race, religion, political belief or status.
Based upon the traditions of medieval stonemasons who built our castles and cathedrals, today we still use the stonemason’s tools as symbols of our aim to ‘build’ better men and a better world for everyone, whatever their background.
Principles of Freemasonry
As Freemasons, we use four principles to help define our path through life: Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Service. In our present uncertain times, these principles are as important today as they have ever been.

Integrity
Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Friendship
Building lifelong bonds and a supportive community.

Respect
Treating everyone with kindness, fairness and dignity.

Service
Making a positive difference through charitable action.
We are taught self-confidence and self-knowledge through participation in a progression of ceremonies. Members are expected to be of high moral standing and are encouraged to speak openly about Freemasonry.
The Meaning of Freemasonry
Freemasonry means different things to each of those who join. For some, it’s about making new friends and acquaintances, for others it’s about being able to help deserving causes and making a contribution to family and society. But for most, Freemasonry is more than just a hobby; it becomes an integral way of life.
In reality, Freemasonry means something different to every man who joins, and if you are interested in becoming a Freemason in Norfolk then the journey starts here.
