WBro Peter De Gol representing Ceres Lodge recently presented a £1,000 donation to Laura Price of Caring Together Charity, recognising the vital and often unseen work the organisation carries out in supporting unpaid carers across the community.
Caring Together Charity provides practical, emotional and social support to carers of all ages. Many of those supported are looking after family members or loved ones with illness, disability or complex needs, often without formal recognition or adequate support. Their work ensures that carers are not left to manage these responsibilities alone, offering guidance, advice and access to services that can make a genuine difference to day to day life.
A key focus of the charity is its support for young carers. These are children and young people who take on caring responsibilities beyond what would normally be expected for their age, often balancing school, social life and emotional pressures alongside their role at home. Caring Together Charity works to identify and support these individuals early, helping to reduce the impact on their education, wellbeing and future opportunities.
The charity’s befriending service is another important element of its work. Through this service, trained volunteers provide regular contact and companionship to carers and those they support, helping to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. This kind of consistent, human connection can be simple in nature but has a significant impact, particularly for those who may otherwise feel overlooked or disconnected from their communities.
The £1,000 donation from Ceres Lodge will contribute towards sustaining and developing these services, enabling the charity to reach more people and continue providing meaningful support where it is needed most.
This support reflects a wider commitment across Norfolk Freemasonry to express values that are inherent in Freemasonry through practical action. By supporting organisations such as Caring Together Charity, members are able to turn those values into something tangible, making a direct and lasting difference within the communities in which they live.
