Profile

Muleslai Lodge Number 8342 in the register of the United Grand Lodge of England reached its 50th year in 2020. Warranted on 10th of June 1970, Muleslai Lodge is the daughter Lodge of the Lodge of Unanimity No. 102, through the idea of two of its members W. Bros Mervyn R.C. Scott and Cyril Gray, who in 1965, were concerned that there were many Masons in the Mundesley area, and they wished to form a Lodge for the increasing number who were moving to this area.
Our members
The ages range from early 20s to late 80s and come from all walks of life. With such a varied membership of like-minded people you will find that by joining this Lodge your social circle will be enriched by the friendships you form in and out of the Lodge. We currently have 44 members; however, when you join you become part of the 3000 members in Norfolk and 200,000 in the United Grand Lodge of England.

The cost of membership:
A one-off joining fee to Grand Lodge of £74.40 and a one-off initiation fee to cover Lodge costs of £25.60. The annual Lodge subscriptions (which cover the annual Grand Lodge fee, a Provincial Grand Lodge fee, rent for our meeting room and admin of the Lodge) is £135.00 and this can be paid monthly once you have joined. In the Lodge room a collection bowl is passed round, generally a couple of pounds is placed in the bowl. We dine after the meeting, the cost of which is £20.00, and a raffle is held; tickets range from £1 to £5. Therefore, the estimated annual cost is £390.00 or £7.50 per week. Great value for the enjoyment you receive from your membership.

The Meetings.
We meet in the Church Rooms, Cromer Road, Mundesley on the First Thursday of the month, October to December, and February to April. The meetings start promptly at 6pm and usually end around 10pm. However, should you be held up and arrive late you will still be welcome to join us. Better to arrive late than not at all!

The Muleslai Lodge, social life.
We are a very social Lodge and the events we hold include our wife, partner, family and friends. They consist of an Almoners Lunch in April/May time. This is sometimes in the form of an outdoor event, or sometimes at a local Restaurant or Hotel.
Annually the Lodge holds a Ladies Night, (better known as a dinner dance,) a Race Night and a BBQ or similar summer event. Again, non-members are welcome to join us.

Visiting other Lodges
Once you are a member you will be able to visit Lodges all over the world providing you have permission from The United Grand Lodge of England. This can be arranged by your Lodge Secretary and he along with the Lodge Membership Officer, will help with advice. Locally you will be able to visit any Lodge. This can be done by booking in with the Lodge Secretary whose details will be on our website.

Local Charitable donations
Supporting local charities is at the heart of Freemasonry. Grand Lodge manages the Masonic Charitable Foundation which supports large projects which need help. Nearer home in Norfolk we have the Norfolk Freemasons Charitable Fund. This fund exists to support the projects that need a large sum which the local Lodge could not raise on its own.
In Muleslai Lodge each year our Worshipful Master, in concert with the members will nominate various local charities which the members encouraged to support. We also support other worthy causes, and our members are encouraged to suggest projects which would benefit from the Lodges support.
We also have an officer of the Lodge called the Almoner. His role is to look after the health and wellbeing of our members and their families, while also checking up on the Lodge Widows, and supporting them as needed.
