Norfolk Freemasons were pleased to support the Wherry Wood Turners at a recent charity demonstration evening in South Walsham, with a £500 donation from the brethren of Thorpe St Andrew Lodge 8010.
The event showcased the skill and dedication of local woodturners, with a live demonstration that highlighted both the craftsmanship involved and the strong sense of community within the group. The evening provided an opportunity not only to celebrate traditional skills, but also to better understand the important role the organisation plays in supporting its members.
Wherry Wood Turners is more than just a hobby group. It provides a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can develop practical skills, build confidence, and connect with others. For many members, particularly those who may be isolated or facing personal challenges, the group offers structure, purpose, and social support.
The donation will contribute towards much-needed new equipment, helping the group to continue delivering its activities safely and effectively, while also enabling more people to get involved.
This kind of local initiative reflects the wider commitment of Norfolk Freemasons to invest in community-led projects that have a direct and lasting impact. By supporting organisations like Wherry Wood Turners, we aim to strengthen community ties, promote wellbeing, and ensure that valuable skills and opportunities remain accessible to all.
