Teddies For Loving Care Support NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day

Norfolk Teddies For Loving Care (TLC) were over the moon when the communications department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kings Lynn, allowed a socially-distanced visit to Roxburgh Children’s Centre.

Freemasons from the Norfolk TLC scheme wanted to show their support for NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers Day whilst also meeting with the Staff at the Centre. They also got to meet young George Cullum, who was there with his Mum, Rebecca for his ongoing treatment at this busy day unit.

Norfolk TLC have been providing the popular TLC bears to the Children’s Emergency Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for almost two years and the Roxburgh Unit since January 2020.

Paediatric Pre-Assessment Nurse and Outpatient Sister, Nicola Staff, from the Roxburgh Unit already knows the scheme well as she’d had experience of the beneficial presence of TLC Bears from her previous role in Nottingham.

“We are so, so grateful for all the help from Norfolk Freemasons with the bears, we all adore being able to hand them to the children and they never fail to raise a smile. The bears have comforted so many children undergoing or about to undergo an uncomfortable procedure, such as blood tests, injections or chemotherapy. It has been just “amazing” for our team to be able to help offer comfort to the children with the TLC bears” said Nicola.

The Norfolk TLC team did a sterling job in keeping both units supplied with TLC bears throughout the pandemic with the excellent cooperation of Nicola and her colleagues.

“Our sincere thanks go to Nicola Staff and all her colleagues at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for the unwavering support that they have given to every single patient during what has been such a trying time for us all”
Mike Spalding, from TLC Norfolk
